Transport is easy as there is a bus stop just outside the park, local Metro station just 10 minutes away from the park as well as Newcastle Railway station which is 30 minutes away.

Things to do around Whitley Bay, first of all you have the beach which is approximately a 5 minute walk from the park where St Mary's Lighthouse is situated, beautiful views and parking is available for a small fee. You have another local beach at Seaton Sluice which is approximately a 5 minute drive, there are two small play areas there, free parking, and an information centre.

You have the local town and the fantastic Metro Centre to shop till you drop! You also have the Blue Reef Aquarium Centre to discover all sealife creatures and the Centre for Life which has various exhibitions and activities for you to enjoy, a swimming pool in the area called Waves that allow free entry for children on a Saturday from 10.30am to 12pm (please see Waves for more details on age limits for free entry and the exact times this offer is available) A toy museum which is a nice blast from the past!
